This New Year
As we enter into a new year we’ve felt some strong senses from Jesus for this new year. We’ve been sensing that 2022 might have felt like a challenging and raw season for many (us included); many of us might feel a new level of vulnerability from the building of character that took place in us last year. As we come into this year we felt like the Lord has spoken to us about a shedding off the old and putting on the new ( Ephesians 4:22-24); we sense that Jesus wants to bring us into a new depth of freedom, healing and sanctification. Many of us might be feeling like we need to step into completely different patterns of lifestyle, setting boundaries in certain relationships, saying no to things that are not beneficial to us, turning off distractions. I (Ale) had a vivid picture of God rewiring old mindsets that I had picked up from culture from hardships and snapping me back into conviction about what was true. He is putting new mindsets on us. The enemy’s strategy is to bring confusion but we believe that this is a season where God wants us to step into FOCUS. He wants to build us to be leaders in the front lines who do not loose sight on the battle and let their guard down (James 4:7).
A couple days ago we heard a few prophetic words from trusted voices that feel in complete alignment with what the Lord is speaking to us. Some of those words are about a holy shaking and God inviting us (the church) to live in holiness and in truth.
We see Jesus rebuilding the foundations of our lives to be strong, unshackled and firm. We feel like God is inviting us not to loose sight of the prize - His Kingdom (Matthew 6:33). There’s a new invitation as we step into this year to leave the old behind and step into the new. Maybe this looks like letting go of the old wine skin and allowing the Spirit to give us a new wine skin. As this year unfolds we see Jesus bringing restoration with broken families, bringing about marriages and new relationships, an increase of family, and seeing a great harvest of salvations and God transforming lives like we’ve seen before.
Lastly, we feel Jesus reminding us of the truth that our relationship with him is all that matters, and that it’s not about us building our own kingdom, but about he who loves us unconditionally and delights to us! (John 15:1-4).
